NORTH ISLAY WHISKY TOURS
Our north Islay whisky tour is currently not running due to COVID. We hope to restart later in the year when it is safe to do so,
Following a meeting to discuss the North Islay whisky tour we had to change the itinerary slightly due to Caol Ila not allowing people onto their site while the upgrade is taking place.
We are happy to say we will be running the north Islay whisky tour again in 2020 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. (other days can be asked for depending on availability)
Please find below the itinerary to give you an idea about how the day will plan out, we hope you like it.
North Islay Tour Itinerary
Your day will start by being collected for your accommodation on the island by Islay taxis and being transferred to Bunnahabhain distillery where you will take in the amazing views on route arriving in time for the production tour followed by our first tasting, the Bunnahabhain wharehouse 9 Tasting:
Bunnahabhain Warehouse 9 Tasting
The Warehouse 9 tasting at Bunnahabhain is one of our most popular events. We will have you closed away from the outside world in our distillery’s converted floor maltings, which is now home to our whisky as it sits maturing in the very best American and European oak casks. You will be able to enjoy an exclusive tasting of non-peated and peated (Moine) Bunnahabhain drams – straight from the cask! There is also the opportunity for you to fill and label your own 20cl bottle from any (or all!) of the casks – these cost an additional £35 per bottle. You will also receive a £5 reward voucher, redeemable against a 70cl bottle in the Visitor Centre shop. Booking in advance is strongly recommended. Children under the age of 12yrs old are welcome at the distillery, but are not admitted to the production areas or tasting areas.
After which you will take in lunch. (included in cost )
Then it’s off to Ardnahoe to start the next part of your day, arriving before 2pm for:
Spirit of Ardnahoe Tour
Explore the creation of Ardnahoe’s Spirit where modern design works in perfect harmony with traditional techniques & equipment. Hear our story so far and take in the spectacular surroundings. End your tour in our bespoke “dramming” area with a taste and a glass to take home.
After which we settle down to the next experience:
Regional Heritage Tasting
A tutored tasting through the whisky regions of Scotland. Relax in the comfortable surroundings of our Kinship Room. You will taste an Old & Rare selection of single malts from the warehouses of Hunter Laing.
After which you will have time to sit back enjoy the views of Ardnahoe browse the shop or chill with a dram or coffee before being collected by taxis to return you to your accommodation.
Costs and Booking
Total cost for this £180 per person and includes all transfers, lunch, tour and tasting entries. It’s more expensive this year but that is because of the extra special tastings at Ardnahoe.
We look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience if you wish to book with us .
Many thanks
Stuart
